Karoo Catch takes the next big step

GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Karoo Catch, a freshwater fish-farming and processing initiative in Graaff-Reinet, recently announced that it would be taking the next big step in the commercialisation of this unique venture.Celebrating the Karoo Catch next step: Liesl de la Harpe: Director (Commercialization), Elize Minnaar: Director (Aquaculture Training and Employee Trust Representative), Trudi Bezuidenhout: Sales and Marketing Manager and Caroline Le Wack: Aquaculture Development Manager.

The vision has always been to create employment opportunities for women in the Karoo and address the food shortage crisis that is looming for Africa and the world.

To deliver on this vision it is imperative that Karoo Catch achieves its commercial goals.

“We have spent approximately ten years developing the business model which included extensive research and development in the aquaculture process and final consumer products”, said founding director Liesl de la Harpe.

“The Karoo and Graaff-Reinet have been our base since inception, so we are going to be launching our products in the region first, and then move through to the rest of South Africa, Africa and other International markets,” said Trudi Bezuidenhout Sales and Marketing Manager.

Karoo Catch will be entering the retail market with a limited range of products that have been extensively taste-tested by the community. The objective is to make affordable, high quality, healthy and tasty products.

Initially there will be a range of sausage products and tasty burger patties.
